Step 1

Do your research

Adoption is a significant decision. If you are considering adoption, you should read and research as much as possible, so you know what to expect. You can find lots of useful information and resources to get you started here, including this useful exercise pack to start considering how you want to parent and what strengths you bring.

Find an agency

You can choose to adopt with the regional adoption service local to where you live, or with a voluntary adoption agency who cover all of Wales. You can find your local agency here.

Step 3

Make an initial enquiry

Your chosen agency will provide you with detailed written information and offer you an initial meeting where you can discuss what the process involves and ask questions. This will happen within 10 working days of your enquiry and can take place at your home, at the agency’s office or via telephone. You will also be invited to attend an information event with other people who are interested in adopting.

Fill in a Registration of Interest Form

Your chosen agency will provide you with detailed written information and offer you an initial meeting where you can discuss what the process involves and ask questions.
