Warm adoptive parenting enhances outcomes for adopted children

Research published by Cambridge University Press demonstrates clear evidence that children placed with adopters who parent with warmth and empathy have better outcomes in relation to their emotional and mental health over time. The study, part of the Wales Adoption Cohort Study,  takes into account the experiences of children prior to being placed for adoption and looks at how the quality of parenting and home life offered by the  adoptive family may play a vital role in altering the trajectory of adopted children’s emotional, behavioural and social outcomes.
