St David’s Children Society is a registered charity and not for profit  voluntary adoption and fostering agency.

Due to the pending retirement of the CEO of St David’s Children Society, an exciting opportunity has arisen to lead this vibrant, forward-thinking Agency into the next stage of its development.

With a long history in adoption, St. David’s is proud to be a significant partner in the National Adoption Service of Wales. We are also active members of the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies (CVAA) and through this forum represent the voice of the Voluntary Adoption Agencies in Wales.

In 2022, St. David’s registered as a Fostering Agency to enable delivery of Welsh Early Permanence and commence the development of a fostering service. St. David’s also hosts AFKA Cymru, the successful training and consultancy service which spans the permanency spectrum of adoption, fostering, kinship care and SGO arrangements.

We seek an experienced, creative and passionate leader, combining innovation and commitment, to deliver on the Agency’s three-year Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, expertise and knowledge of the contemporary challenges facing adoption.  They will champion the modernisation agenda to ensure adoption is the placement of choice for those children unable to live with members of their birth family. They will demonstrate energy in driving forward developments in fostering and wider permanency spectrum.

The successful candidate will be able to evidence the professional, technical and managerial skills required to motivate and lead a team to optimise life chances for children. They will also demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with colleagues in the statutory and voluntary sector.

With a minimum of five years’ experience as a leader in a social care or similar setting, candidates will need to demonstrate strong strategic skills, financial acumen and a profound commitment to Childrens’ rights.

In return, the Society will provide a generous remuneration package with various additional benefits coupled with strong governance and support from the Chair and Board of Trustees.
