Adoption UK is working closely with Welsh Government and the National Adoption Service to raise the educational attainment of children who were previously looked after and are now adopted. We know that children who have had a hard start in life are more likely to find school challenging, and that adopted children are more likely than their non adopted peers to have additional learning needs.

Adoption UK will be writing a booklet aimed at helping adoptive parents navigate the education system and support their children in school.  We would like to find out from you what you have found to be helpful and what you feel it would be useful for other adopters who are starting on their journey to know.

We are interested in everyone's experiences of education including those children who are being educated outside of mainstream school.
