Now is a Good Time. Choose Family. Choose Adoption.

You are kind. You are capable. You are ready.

There is no perfect time to start a family, but sometimes, the qualities that make someone a wonderful parent are already there.

Kindness. Patience. Love. The ability to offer a child a safe, steady and supportive home.

This National Adoption Week, we’re sharing the experiences of adopters across Wales, celebrating their different journeys and showing how people from all walks of life can build their families through adoption.

Every adoption journey is different. There are moments of joy, challenges and opportunities to learn and grow. You don’t have to navigate them alone.

Whether you’ve been considering adoption for years or have only just started thinking about it, we’re here to answer your questions and support you along the way.

Now could be a good time to take that first step.

Real people. Different journeys. One shared experience.

There is no single story of adoption.

Families are formed in different ways, at different stages of life and for different reasons. Behind every adoption journey are real people, each with their own experiences, hopes and challenges.

This National Adoption Week, four adopters share their stories in their own words.

A message from the National Adoption Service

Adoption is about more than a single decision. It’s about building relationships, understanding children’s experiences and providing the love, stability and support they need to thrive.

Across Wales, adoption services are here to guide and support families, from their first enquiry through to life after adoption.

Hear from Eifion Burke, Director of the National Adoption Service and Foster Wales, as he reflects on National Adoption Week and the importance of supporting people throughout their adoption journey

Could now be your time?

You may already have more of the qualities needed to become an adoptive parent than you realise.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to start the conversation.

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, exploring adoption for the first time or returning to the idea after some time, your local adoption service is here to help you understand the process and explore what’s possible.

You are kind. You are capable. You are ready.

Now is a good time. Choose Family. Choose Adoption.
