THE INDEPENDENT CO-CHAIR of the NATIONAL ADOPTION SERVICE for WALES

COMBINED GOVERNANCE BOARD

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role in the direction and governance of Wales’ highly successful National Adoption Service (NAS).

The service is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced individuals who wish to be considered for the role as Independent Co-Chairperson[1] for the National Adoption Service Combined Governance Board and play a role in steering NAS into the next phase of delivering and developing adoption services in Wales.   The current co-chair is retiring, having been in the role since NAS was established in 2014.

The National Adoption Service in Wales is a truly collaborative venture with the statutory and voluntary sectors working together to improve the lives of children in adoptive families and others affected by adoption.  All key stakeholders are represented on the Combined Governance Board which meets four times a year.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification with knowledge and experience of overseeing the delivery of adoption services at a senior level.  The successful person will work with the Director and the other Co-Chair (a local authority Member) to ensure that the Combined Governance Board fulfils its functions as well as undertaking other representative roles for NAS and attending other meetings.

The appointment will be for a fixed term of three years with the option to extend for a further three-year term.  Renumeration will be £695 per Board meeting / day to include preparation and post meeting minute checking; the other duties and tasks will be paid at a pro-rata rate linked to this daily rate.

Further detailed information about the role is available in the Role Specification.  The Director will be happy to discuss the role with interested persons.  Please contact Suzanne Griffiths on suzanne.griffiths@adoptcymru.com
