ADOPTION BAROMETER

An opportunity to share your views on modern day adoption!

Adoption UK has recently launched a survey into adoption in the 21st Century and would like to hear from adoptive parents and prospective adopters across Wales. Responses received will form the basis of AUK's first Adoption Barometer which they hope to publish in the summer. The aim is for this to become an annual 'stock-take' of modern day adoption, providing valuable information about the experiences of adopters and adoptive families. A further aim being to inform policy changes in relation to adoption support that many families need. The detailed survey will include a particular 'in-focus' topic each year with the first being related to Education as AUK continue to gather evidence in line with their Equal Chance campaign.
Adoption UK's education policy advisor, Becky White said: "It's so important that we keep collecting the views and opinions of adoptive families to ensure work is always in step with the experiences and challenges facing families. Harvesting this evidence enables us to present a more compelling case for timely and appropriate support for adoptive families across the UK".
Suzanne Griffiths, Director, National Adoption Service also adds that "the National Adoption Service for Wales welcomes this initiative by AUK.  Since NAS was formed in 2014 we have created lots of opportunities to listen to Welsh adoptive parents and use what they have told us to shape improvements to services across Wales.  The barometer will be an important additional way to help us do this".
